Onyx

Onyx is a type of opaque chalcedony that comes in various colors, most often black or brown with white bands. Although it occurs naturally in black, it is often dyed to achieve a uniform black.

Supposed to promote stamina, tenacity and control.  Relieves stress, promotes emotional balance.

Sardonyx, a form of onyx with white and red bands, fosters good luck. 

Onyx is one of the birthstones for February.
