George Frederick Kunz

The Curious Lore of Precious Stones; Being a Description of Their Sentiments and Folk Lore, Superstitions, Symbolism, Mysticism, Use in Medicine,

Reviewer: Gael Sylvia Costigan from Hoyo de Manzanares, Spain

"George Frederick Kunz´s contribution as a gemologist at the beginning of the century earned him universal fame and respect, even to the point that one the most popular stones in modern energy work is named after him: Kunzite. Dover has published a reprint of his 1913 monument to the "hidden" side of gems: The Curious Lore of Precious Stones. This 400 page volume contains a wealth of material based on medieval lapidary tomes, history, folklore, the Bible, the Eddas, archeological findings, and oral traditions still alive at the time of Kunz´s writing. The casual or serious reader cannot help but be impressed by the depth of understanding Kunz displayed in page after page of riches associated with all aspects of gems and their uses. Thank you, Dover, for allowing us access to this remarkable book."

Love Is in the Earth: A Kaleidoscope of Crystals

Reviewer: Joshua Feltman from Chico, CA

If you are interested in the metaphysical properties of crystals and minerals, this is the book for you. Contains some mineralogical info as well, but focuses mainly on the metaphysical attributes. Well worth the money.

Dorothee L. Mella

Stone Power

Reviewer: delvallea from Florida, USA

Good guide for beginners interested in understanding the traditional powers and energies associated with gems and stones, as well as gem/color associations. My favorite Chapter is 7, an alphabetized list of various stones and gems and their specific powers. I like the way she suggests pairing of stones and metals and how to wear and use them. I only wish it had more illustrations. It's hard to identify some of the gems and stones with no pictures. Definately read the table of contents so you see how she's organized it or you may get a bit lost.

Katrina Raphaell

Crystal Enlightenment :The Transforming Properties of Crystals and Healing Stones

Reviewer: Joeline Webber, from California

I've taught the use of crystals and gemstones for nearly 30 years and this remains the number one recommended book on every reading list I hand out. It's never been improved on and the rest of the competition pales by comparison.

Scott Cunningham

Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic

Reviewer: James&Kimmy, from Oregon, USA

This book is detailed but not exhaustive. Cunningham has a way of cutting through the veils of arcane muddle and get right to the subject at hand. This is the reference that we recommend for those that wish to enter the world of gemstone, crystal and metal magic and a must for anyone that needs a reference on this subject. The description of each mineral or metals mystical properties are clearly described in enough detail to let you know what is is best suited for. The chapters preceding the descriptions are written in a simple and straight forward manner that does not favor any one religion or belief system. He lets the reader take what they need from it and apply it accordingly. Mr. Cunningham also includes a quick reference summary that is set up in a logical and easy to use format. It is a shame that Scott Cunningham is no longer with us. His direct way of sharing this important information is still needed in the spiritual community.
