Jasper
Opaque Yellow, red, brown, or green chalcedony is called jasper. "The oldest jasper adornments date back to the Paleolithic period" 1 Lore "The jasper had great repute in ancient times as a rain bringer. The fourth century author of "Lihica" celebrates this quality in the following lines:
Worn as a talisman, jasper is said to raise confidence and alleviate fears. In the middle ages jasper was once considered to be a warrior's stone. "It is a stone which accepts intense responsibility in the realm of protection. It protects against negativity and helps one to be grounded to the stabilizing energies of the Earth." 3 Medicinally, jasper has been used to prevent nightmare, treat diseases of the blood (hemophilia) and to promote good health during pregnancy. Additionally jasper has seen use as a remedy for snake bite and a treatment for ulcers and other ailments of the digestive system. Thought to prevent conception by keeping its wearer from licentiousness . . "American Indians utilized jasper in rain-attracting ceremonies . . .
