LAPIDARY AND JEWELRY ARTISTS / STUDIOS
High Country Gems Nancy and
Stephen Attaway collaborate on one-of-a-kind jewelry designs that they regard as
wearable pieces of art. Nancy has been cutting gemstones since 1987. She learned
to facet colored gemstones from several master gem cutters in Albuquerque, New
Mexico. She designs and cuts the colored gemstones used in their jewelry. Steve
carves gemstones and renders the gold work with hand-fabrication and lost wax
casting.
Sandelle I have pursued a
Fine Arts career that combines enameling as well as painting and drawing. I
think it shows in my jewelry that I have a strong drawing background with a good
eye for line.I have blown glass, done ceramics and jewelry and painted in
watercolor, pastel and oil. Enameling is an ancient medium that traps pure
pigments in glass. One can get brilliant permanent colors possible in no other
medium.

Arrowhead
Gemcraft Arrowhead Gemcraft was founded in 1969, when we started
cutting cabochons. The sphere machine was introduced in 1989. Our business has
been located in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota since its development. Montana agate
has been our specialty since the beginning. Montana agate is one of the finest
stones available for one of a kind jewelry. We also cut Designer cabs from many
other materials.
Jensen Knives My work is
acquired by "Those that have everything, yet still want more." When catering to
a high-end luxury market, you must have something singularly unique and aligned
to the sophisticated trained eye. Jensen Knives fills a much needed void within
this demographic by providing a collectable that is both stylish and rare.
Howard Friedler There's nothing particularly special about the
site itself but; the deep reverse intaglio (internal carving) speaks for itself.
His work is a must see.
Alan Ardiff It all
started at Art College when Alan was told to see his work as a vehicle of
expression; Alan put wheels on his work. From this time forward the signature of
Alan's work has been its movement, birds have swung, heads have rolled, flowers
have swayed, stones have rocked and hearts have spun. Precious pieces of gold
and silver have been manipulated in the pursuit of the perfect mechanism. Alan
and his miniature works have continually evolved over time with each new
collection working to another motion.
Erin Dolman I have been
working on a series of one of a kind jewelry pieces over the past ten years,
which I call my “Under Glass” series. Rather than relying solely on the use of
traditional jewelry materials these pieces utilize layers of natural objects,
text and images to create a collage like effect. Moth and dragonfly wings,
bones, feathers and skeletal leaves are collected on walks in the woods
surrounding my home. Vintage books, prayer cards and old photos are hunted at
flea markets and thrift stores and become more precious than gems. Each piece is
comprised of three or more layers of sterling silver, copper, acrylic and hand
carved, cast elements. Each layers is hand cut with a jeweler’s saw, filed to
fit and held together with tiny rivets or bolts. Protected by their layers of
metal and acrylic these fragile, delicate objects become fragments of a story,
preserved like specimens under glass.

Darmar Enterprises
After years of avid stone collecting, it was a natural transition for us to
become gemstone dealers. That happened in 1984 and we have been supplying
colored gemstones to jewelers, designers and collectors ever since. The lure of
creating our own beautiful stones led to the purchase of our first faceting
machine. This quickly led to the addition of our lapidary services. Now we
facet, carve, repair, cab, import and sell all types of gemstones.

use are infrequently known, but once introduced difficult to forget. The father
and son team that is the Village Silversmith has been producing their unique
pieces for over twenty-five years, combining the best of their individual
talents to create exceptional designs.
Beth Rosengard I seldom need
to look beyond the richness of gold – my favorite metal – and an infinite
variety of stunning gemstones to find inspiration. As a jewelry designer, I am
always searching for creative ways to frame, embellish, complement and/or
contrast with a stone or interesting combination of stones. That search has led
me to explore diverse metal-working techniques in an effort to expand my design
vocabulary – and so, inspiration also emerges from the technique itself. That’s
the case in my recent experimentation with broom-casting.

Lattis Design Art
Jewelry Making jewelry is a passion for me. My collected experience of
image, form, and process are integral to my creative outcome. Structures like a
Diatom composed of line, creating pattern and ultimately form fascinate me. The
image of an unfurling leaf or a suspension bridge inspires me. In my jewelry
these images come together as organic architecture. Working primarily in gold
and silver, I fabricate and form my pieces using traditional jewelry techniques.
I prefer to make neckpieces because of their potential to transform the wearer.
I choose jewelry as my form of expression because it allows me to turn my
passion for making into a sensual and personal experience.

Shaw Contemporary
Jewelry My work currently explores the form, texture and color, and
relationships of natural beach stones. I often associate them with fossils and
familiar gemstones to heighten the awareness of their common ancestry.
Leo Atkinson
I am a self-taught lapidary artist, turned sculptor. Much of the fun is in
procuring the stone with which I work. My children sometimes help me with the
hunting as well as the sanding and finishing, Stone, to me, represents the most
basic and elemental (conscious) form of matter on Earth. Since, as humans, we
all experience a need to create, my creative attunement seems to gravitate and
attract to the "energy" of Minerals and Fossils.

Barbra Patrick Artist and
goldsmith. With my work, I gently challenge the viewer's expectations
about the coldness and rigidity of metal. To do this, I contrast weighty metals
and strong geometric subtexts with sensually textured woven patterns, chaotic
design elements, and curvilinear shapes. Ultimately, the softness and "gestural"
movement that is intertwined throughout this static form is suggestive of some
natural pattern or human form.
