Erosion has partially exposed this petrified log.  It lies, resting on it's side about a mile south of the rest stop on hwy 140.  Petrified and opalized wood can be found scattered all over the Virgin Valley area.  There are more pictures of this log here.

This unusual looking specimen is a limb of petrified wood still partially encased in bog agate in which it formed.  Click on one of the pictures below to see an enlargement.
